“Healing doesn't happen in isolation.
It happens when someone finally feels seen, and decides to stay in the room anyway.”
I do this work because I've lived the hard parts too, and I know how much it matters to have someone who actually understands sitting across from you. So many people spend years believing they're too much, not enough, or somehow undeserving of real care. I started Birch Grove to be a supportive place where you can come exactly as you are and finally just be yourself.
Built From Lived Experience. Grown With Intention
Birch Grove Counseling started in 2021 as a solo therapy practice and, honestly, as a deeply personal mission. I wanted to build something that didn’t exist when I needed it: mental health care that was weight-inclusive, trauma-informed, neurodivergent-friendly, and genuinely warm.
I was tired of seeing people fall through the cracks of systems that treated them like diagnoses instead of human beings. So I created a different kind of counseling practice and trusted that the right people would find their way to it.
And they did. What began as one therapist and a clear set of values grew into something bigger than I could hold alone, and that’s exactly when Birch Grove Counseling became Birch Grove Collaborative. The name change marked a real shift: a team of therapists and clinicians who share the same heart for this work, each bringing their own strengths, specialties, and approach to care. We’ve expanded our virtual therapy and counseling services across multiple states, integrated medication management into client care, and grown steadily and intentionally, never for the sake of getting bigger, but to reach more people who deserve to feel seen, supported, and understood.
The Collaborative
I named this place a collaborative on purpose because I genuinely don’t believe healing is something you do alone, and I don’t believe I do my best work alone either. The therapists and clinicians at Birch Grove bring their own strengths, lived experiences, and clinical perspectives, and that diversity is the whole point. When you work with one of us, you’re supported by a team that consults, collaborates, and cares deeply about providing thoughtful, individualized mental health care. Your healing is never resting on one person’s shoulders.
That same spirit extends to the work we do with clients. You are not a passive recipient of therapy here. You’re a partner in it. We bring the clinical training and steady presence, and you bring the expertise of knowing your own life, your own body, and your own story. Real change happens in that space between us, and it’s some of the most meaningful work I know how to do.
We believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative and human.
What it’s like to work together
Clients often tell us that sessions here feel different from what they expected. Less clinical, more human. We move at your pace, follow your lead, and build the work around who you actually are instead of squeezing you into a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you come to us for therapy, medication management, or both, you'll find a team that talks to each other and stays focused on the whole picture of your care, not just one piece of it.
For some clients, that looks like weekly therapy to work through trauma, body image, anxiety, or disordered eating. For others, it means partnering with our psychiatric provider to find the right medication support, with prescribers who actually listen and don't rush you. And for many, it's the two working together, therapy and med management in the same place, with providers who coordinate so you never have to play messenger between offices. What you can expect is steady, collaborative, honest care that meets you where you are and grows with you.
You don’t need to have the right words, a perfect plan, or all the answers before you begin. Whether you come with a clear sense of what you need or are still finding your footing, we’ll meet you where you are.
Together, we can:
Make sense of what you're carrying, whether it's something new or something you've held for years
Build practical skills and steady support for anxiety, depression, trauma, and disordered eating
Coordinate therapy and medication management so your whole care team is on the same page
Help you reconnect with yourself, your body, and a life that actually feels like yours
